In addition to teaching activities, Dr. Rebenda and his colleagues from UKE also found time for ongoing scientific collaboration. The visit was preceded by an invited presentation by Dr. Rebenda at an online workshop organized by colleagues from UKE in February 2026. The collaboration has continued successfully even after his return from the mobility program; Associate Professor Angela Ricciardello from UKE delivered an invited online lecture at the “Czech-Georgian Workshop on Boundary Value Problems” in June 2026.
Our collaboration in Sicily continues
Josef Rebenda has once again been to Sicily. His visit to the University “Kore” of Enna (Università degli Studi di Enna “Kore,” UKE), located in the town of Enna in the center of the island, took place in the second half of May 2026. The university is currently located in the Enna Bassa district near the city center, but plans are underway to move its headquarters to the historic Enna Alta district. The university is also building a new campus on the southwestern outskirts of the city.
During the visit, a mathematics course was held on differential equations and numerical methods in engineering. The doctoral students actively participated in solving problems based on Newton’s second law. At the end of the course, each student prepared a short presentation on how the material covered could be applied to the doctoral project they are working on.
